Well priced and very McLaren Vale red.
This spends 30 months in seasoned French and American oak and is bottled unfined and unfiltered. Just 1800 bottles produced.
A deep, blood red colour, you can see that oak influence on both nose and palate, giving a certain thickness and polish that many long oaked reds carry. It’s not a bad thing, just a particular sort of viscosity and choc milk shake edged lusciousness. Here it just makes for a deeply flavoured, utterly rich, slightly warm, but ultimately pretty satisfying sort of wine.
Less oak would probably make this a little less sweet (and more enjoyable), but I still rather appreciated the style. Very well priced too.

Score: 17.5/20, 91/100
Would I buy it? A glass with some steak and chips would do.
