Bleasdale Pinot Gris 2014 (Adelaide Hills, SA)
13%, NSW, $19
Always intriguing to try a wine with a bit of bling – this has 2 trophies to its name.
Smartly sourced from the Adelaide Hills. Handpicked, whole bunch pressed. 20% wild ferment in old barrel, the rest in stainless.
It certainly smells quite delicate, the nose not suggesting much. There’s some joy on the palate with white peach and almost musky richness and a flash of weight giving texture, before a slightly broad finish and tart acidity. Nice and clean lines to finish though.
Not a bad wine, fairly priced (available around the traps for $15) and with some welcome palate concentration. Could do with some excitement though.
