Scarborough The Obsessive Chardonnay 2013
I can remember someone telling me about how they spotted ‘Scarbie’ patrolling roads around Pokolbin and spraying weeds on the road median strip. Now that is obsessive.
This is a lovely, warm-hearted Hunter Chardonnay too. Built in a style that is unashamedly ripe and rich, it is bathed in milky French oak and big flavours. In some ways it’s too much, with noticeable alcohol warmth and oak that fills many crannies. Yet it’s still hard not to like this, particularly if you’ve grown up on Scarborough Chardonnay like I have.
Great stuff. I think the ’14 will be even better again.
