Another McLaren Vale red under $20, and another value champion. GSM is so good at this sort of thing – reliable, bright, fruit-driven reds that everyone is going to like, if just a little warmish. The summer BBQ reds of choice, at exactly the right price. A core of bright red fruit is the hero here, even if the acidity is a bit sharp. Real licoricey red raspberry fruit fleshing our the middle – that glycerol fruit is a nod to the warmth of 2018.  It’s not complex, but it doesn’t need to be, for this is baseline good drinking. Easy recommend. Best drinking: over the next five years, though it won’t fall over after that. 17/20, 90/100. 14%, $18. Would I buy it? I’d go a few glasses easy.
