Arbor Novae means ‘new trees’ in Latin, with this range intended to celebrate WA styles with $1.50 from each bottle donated to Carbon Positive Australia to support tree planting initiatives. Cellar door only from what I can see – a good excuse to get back to WA as it has been years for me.
The Howard Park Arbor Novae Chardonnay 2019 is all Margaret River fruit, and built in a lovely nutty expansive style. Mealy, nutty and even a little cheesy with a really concentrated palate. It get a bit chunky before the finish tightens up again, but the overall effect has old school charm and enough energy.
Best drinking: good now. 17.7/20, 92/100. 13%, $35. Howard Park website. Would I buy it? Let’s share a bottle.
