Pizzini ‘Whitefields’ Pinot Grigio 2011 (King Valley, Vic)

A rather more serious version of the standard ‘tall bottle’ Pinot Grigio, carrying some of the white flower aromatics that its northern Italian cousins do.

It’s a lifted and fresh wine too, like many other ’11 King Valley whites, coupled with a dry and rather pretty, lightly textured finish. There is a hint of rot on the finish (vintage joys again), but its still every bit the focused, cool climate Pinot Grigio with little signs of tiring. Perhaps a little short. Solid ‘drinking’ wine from a crap vintage.

Drink: 2013-2014
Score: 16.8/20 89/100
Would I buy it? Not quite, but would finish a glass.
