BEER: Endeavour Pale Ale 2012

BEER: Endeavour Reserve Pale Ale 2012

5% alc, 32 IBU

Each year the Endeavour Pale Ale gets better, and this 2012 iteration is probably the best yet. I liked drinking more than the 2012 Amber Ale too In fact, I’m switching sides and calling myself a Pale Ale Man instead of an Amber Ale man as of now. Drastic steps…

Much of the appeal here is the balance of hop aromatics and bitterness vs malty richness. As the boys from Endeavour explained to me recently, hops need to be used like oak i.e. judiciously.
As ever with the Endeabour beers this is a vintage ale, so its age-worthy, though why wouldn’t you drink this now? Certainly refreshing, the malt a little more dominant this year, the hops evident yet not sappy.I likey. Would happily make a daily drink. 4/5

  1. Sorry, really didn't like this beer at all quite frankly. Very disappointing, It tasted like any other indistinguishable, industrial macro brew, faux craft beer. The hops used are essentially anonymous and the bottle I sampled was way over-carbonated. The only thing pale about Endeavour Pale Ale
is that it pales into complete mediocrity 2/5. Give it a miss, plenty of other good quality Aussie pales to choose from

  2. Have to agree with the above comment. Not particularly inspiring for a pale, Hmm, "hops need to be used judiciously" that's all well and good, but does that also mean the end product should be restrained, inoffensive, and basically 'middle of the road' I can only conclude that Endeavour pale ale is most probably marketed as 'a gate way beer' for the say Crown lager drinker, who generally prefers simple malt lagers, but would like to; be it tentatively expand his pallet into the world of craft beer.Certainly not a beer for the serious beer nerd, however I'm sure there is a market for this product.
