Clairault Cellar Reserve Cane Cut Riesling 2011

I spotted this in the pile recently and realised how long it has been sitting there. Woops. Anyways, this is a light, yellow straw coloured sticky from a party of the world not known for decent dessert wines (or Riesling for that matter).

It looks a little odd too – a little volatile, gently pineapple fruited wine that looks initially simple and soft. Yet after that bluntness the palate is actually quite fresh and clean, if light, with an unexpected gentle generosity and freshness to finish.

Still a lightweight, but not a bad wine, you’d drink a glass of this (but probably no more).
