I’ve had this Shiraz from Mike ‘just try and spell his last name’ De Iuliis a few times now and it’s never looked more backward. If you’ve got any in the cellar leave it there.
Light, pretty, red fruited and direct, this is Hunter Burgundy to a t. Lovely colour too. The palate. though, looks mono syllabic – I kept waiting for something to happen, but nothing did (it’s a bit reductive too which doesn’t help). Fine tannins however and excellent length signal some long term potential (and the texture is tip-top).
Hold-on.
Drink: 2016-2025+
Score: 17.5/20+, 91/100+
Would I buy it? Not yet.
