Plantagenet Great Southern Riesling 2014
The forgotten Western Australian Riesling king, in fine form here. I do wonder why Plantagenet has lost some shine in recent years, for the Riesling, in particular, looks as good as ever. More to that story methinks…
‘Pure lime and mineral notes’ according to the back label and that’s exactly what you’re getting. It’s seriously dry and seriously intense, that line of limey fruit almost uncompromising in its acid line. Massive acid, unequivocally long and almost too brutal. Normally I’d say drink this young for the purity, but I think this might look better with a little more bottle age softness.
Gold medal quality length and acid regardless.
