Capital Wines Gundaroo Riesling 2014
What a great Aussie name is Gundaroo. Makes you think of country Australia, with brown hills, brown snakes and gumtrees. Or maybe thats just me. Gundaroo feels like the country too, sitting between the wine hub of Murrumbateman and the slightly surreal, also brown, expanse of Lake George.
I can see why this has picked up loads of trophies too – it’s an open and expressive number, with a real intensity of Canberra Rieslingness, loaded with cooked lime and sweetened lemon juice. There’s some surprising development on the palate, yet the concentration of lime and lemonade flavours are exceptional.
It’s maybe just a little chunky and forward (drink soonish) but gee this packs a punch. So much to get your teeth into that it just works.

That's the spirit! I reckon it will be great in about two years time.
