Pepper Tree Limited Release Orange Chardonnay 2014
The entry level wine in Pepper Tree’s Orange range. Orange the NSW wine region of course. Don’t mention orange wine amongst Orange winemakers. Or even the colour orange. They hate all of it. Heaven help the first person to make an orange labelled orange wine from Orange. Instant death.
This is crisp and light cool climate Chardonnay, the nose light and juicy, indeed quite tropical in its open aromatic fruit. Surprisingly ripe and generous for such low alcohol, carrying just-bottled banana esters, peachy fruit and a little sulphides to give this more complexity.
Simple and easy, without rising beyond that.
