Always surprises me how much Sauvignon Blanc is planted in Coonawarra. Chardonnay too. Seems like a wasted opportunity for more Cabernet does Coonawarra Chardonnay. Or Merlot, which could be great. Heck, make rose if you’re looking for a summer drink from Coonawarra.
Anyway, this Raidis Estate screams its variety. From the rooftops. Green straw coloured, it’s highly aromatic, with a pyrazine heavy nose that is clearly delineated, the palate following with a very ripe, thumpingly intense fruit expression with firm acidity and some slight warmth to the finish.
Almost too much sauvignon Blanc here really – it feels like a Sauv attack. Lovers of the variety will love the intensity though. Best drinking: 2016. 16.5/20, 88/100. 13.8%. $20. Would I buy it? Not for me.
