Tintilla Estate Hunter Valley Rosato di Jupiter 2015
Sangiovese based pink from the Hunter. A combination not explored enough in Oz really, and the acidity of Sangio makes for prime rosé fodder.
Pink coloured with just a little hint of orange, this certainly looks the part, the nose carrying pink sherbet and raspberry fruit. It tastes ok too, the slightly off-dry palate juicy, the acidity light. My only real criticism is that after a while that sweetness drags you down – it’s a flavour that doesn’t go away. Still, solid wine in all up. Best drinking: 2016-2017. 16.5/20, 88/100. 12.5%, $26. Would I buy it? Not quite.
