Tim Smith Barossa Mataro 2015
I loved this wine’s big brother. Delicious. This is isn’t quite in the same league but still quality.
Dark ruby, black fruit, menthol, dark berries. Announces itself from the get-go. There’s a dash of eucalypt here too, then black fruits in a laid back fashion, without the thickness through the middle. Love the deep dark depth – varietal joy. That eucalypt mint thing is a distraction, but the palate depth makes this work.
Best drinking: 2018-2030. 17.5/20, 91/100. 14%, $38. Would I buy it? I’d go a glass or so.
