Torzi Matthews 1903 Old Vines Barossa Shiraz 2015

From an old dry-grown vineyard planted in 1903 in Moppa.

Deep purple red. There’s a cherry cola lift here that I see in many of Dom Torzi’s reds, but the palate seems driven more by acidity than flashy fruit, more raspberry and redcurrant this vintage with a curious light edge to the palate. Just a little underwhelming and skittish, though you get the feeling this it is just flowering in the bottle – revisit in another 12 months. Best drinking: 2018-2030. 17/20, 90/100. 14.2%, $50. Would I buy it? Not quite yet.
