Gundog Estate Indomitus Rosa 2017

Gundog Estate Indomitus Rosa 2017

Super premium rosé from Team Gundog. I like the intention here too, though I much prefer the red and the Semillon.

It’s a blend of Murrumbateman Cabernet and Riesling. Both spend time on skins, with the cloudy juice is barrel fermented with wild yeast. Bottled after 4 months on lees. Serious and skinsy nose. It’s shy, dry and phenolic, the flavours bound by tannin and acid. Just a fraction ungenerous and hard for this price point, but long and very serious. You can see the effort that went into this, but I found it just a little hard edged.  Best drinking: Now or even next year. 17/20, 90/100. 12.4%, $40. Would I buy it? I’d have a glass.
