Vinea Marson Col Fondo Prosecco 2015

Vinea Marson Col Fondo Prosecco 2015

More Col Fondo! In Australia! For the uninitiated this is Prosecco made in the traditional method, with a second fermentation in bottle but without a disgorgement. The best Italian Col Fondo styles are lovely cloudy, complex beasts. This Vinea Marson comes from Alpine Valleys fruit – the Mount Buff Vineyard and was left on lees until Dec 2016. The fizz is off the charts (a challenge with Col Fondo), but once you get past the slightly oxidative style that tangy appley palate makes it quite vinous and real. It’s an imprecise Col Fondo but plenty of charisma.

Best drinking: Now. 17/20, 90/100. 11%, $30. Would I buy it? Just a glass.
