Mandala Pinot Noir 2017
Some of the ’17 Yarra Pinots are very light and fragrant things, to the point of being a little shallow. Like this one. It’s a bright raspberry fruited Pinot with some confected red lolly edges and some brackish background notes, with an exuberance of fruit here complete with a little volatility. It doesn’t go far beyond there, despite the prettiness.
Pleasant but lacks some stuffing.
Best drinking: Now and over the next few years. 16.8/20, 89/100. 13.7%, $30. Would I buy it? A glass.
