Mylkappa Wines Pinot Noir Rosè 2017
A new name to me but with plenty of interest. Mylkappa is a small Adelaide Hills vineyard at Birdwood that has largely grown fruit for other producers, only recently turning to their own label. Vineyard is 112 acres, planted in 1998 to a whole smogasbord of varieties, but particularly 5 different clones of Pinot for table wine. That Pinot resource has delivered here what is a very likeable rosé, with pure strawberry fruit style, poised acidity and a real soft redcurrant fruit and acidity. Simply fresh wine, in that delicate, yet vinous, Pinot rosé mode. Nice (and crazy cheap).
Best drinking: Now. 12.2%, $12 direct! 17.5/20, 91/100. Would I buy it? At that price? Absolutely.
