Rock solid Mandala Blanc de Blancs 2015

Mandala Blanc de Blancs 2015

I’m on a sparkling mode today, though at the moment it’s largely beer that I’m drinking sparingly (thanks newborn who doesn’t sleep).

Anyway, I like this Yarra sparkling. Spends 24 months on lees, which is a good start. It’s a linear, appley modern Yarra sparkling, with crisp, well handled citrussy acidity and a light yeasty edge. This is clever – a real balance between primary grapefruit and marzipan fruit and just a little yeasty width. It’s not as weighty and complex as some vinous and chunky mod Oz fizz, but easily appealing and well made. Best drinking: Good for the next 2-3 years. 17.5/20, 91/100. 12.5%, $35. Would I buy it? A glass or two easy.
