The Mataro/Mourvedre contrast goes on. I’ve seen it called either in either region now. Mataro is more Australian for mine. Anyway, this is Australian Vintage (ie McGuigan) in Barossa mode. Confected, simple red that leads with Grenache. Lots of red fruit flavour here, but lacks the length you’d want for the dollars. Pleasant, but needs more. Best drinking: Over the next five to eight years. 16.5/20, 88/100. 14%, $24.99. Would I buy it? No.
