This Longview Devils Elbow Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 is solid Adelaide Hills Cabernet, but honestly, the Saturno brothers should just graft this over to Nebbiolo (which they do so well).
Dusty and varietal, it’s dark berry fruited, the tannins firm, the palate powerful and firm and quintessential cassis cool climate. Varietally sound if not completely cohesive, it’s easy to admire the structure here even if it’s not seductive at all (a bit angular for that). Solid.
Best drinking: I dunno. Might be better in a year or so and will live for a decade. 17.5/20, 91/100. 14%, $28. Longview website. Would I buy it? A glass.
