Smashable. That’s the core ethos with this label from the Shaw & Smith empire, and this The Other Wine Co. Grenache 2019 is another example. Using fruit from 45yo vines, it’s more nouveau than Châteauneuf-du-Pape, light to medium bodied, with bright jubey, confected red berries, micro-fine tannins and a bitter crunch to finish. What gets it over the line is the pure Grenache fruit, which ultimately makes this smashable. Good stuff. Best drinking: to five years. 17/20, 90/100. 13.5%, $27. Other Wine Co. website. Would I buy it? Well worth sharing a bottle.
