Following on from the Chardonnay comes a well built Marlborough Sauv. This Jules Taylor Sauvignon Blanc 2019 harks back to the wines of the early noughties with old school varietal intensity – all gooseberries and passionfruit. It’s fresh, drinkable and intense, with a slight rawness to the acidity but that’s 2019, really. Solid drinking. Best drinking: now. 17.5/20, 91/100. 13.5%, $25. Jules Taylor wines website. Would I buy it? A glass or so.
