Tim’s done it again. The master of textural and luscious Barossan reds delivers another winner in this Tim Smith Wines M.G.S 2019.
It’s flush with soft blackberry fruit that’s very approachable for a 2019 red, the fruit softly spoken but ripe and generous, a bomb of flavour without alcohol heat, just this rythym of silken berry fruits. Really nice wine.
Best drinking: now to ten years. 18/20, 93/100. 14%, $30. Tim Smith Wines website. Would I buy it? Worth a few glasses.

My God you’re a tough marker Andrew. Please explain how you can write the first three lines of lyrical waxing above only to say at thirty bucks its’ worth a few glasses”. So please name me two other wines you would go out and buy straight away for $30 and don’t say to me Go back and read my all my recent notes either. The guys done it again. Well how can he if you won’t be a bottle. Now I know you didn’t pay for this one but mate, I need to know.
You know what? I was being a bit harsh on the buy scale. I think it’s well worth a purchase, although for me I wasn’t quite in the ‘buy a bottle and empty it’ scale, with perhaps that big lusciousness a little too much for endless consumption (for me at least). As for VFM? It’s superb
I get it…..a tad drier and the boot would have been loaded. Yep, different palates of course.
I had a Flametree Chrdonnay 2019 this week. Not the sixty bucker version but the kid. Blew me away with the flavour and the complexity was ridiculous for a twenty bucker.
That Flametree Chardonnay is meant to be excellent. I missed a tasting of it and everyone raved about it afterwards.
