Angove Warboys Shiraz Grenache 2018

Review: Angove Warboys Shiraz Grenache 2018

The evolution of Angove’s premium wine push continues. This McLaren Vale red comes off the now certified organic, circa 90yo Warboys vineyard and it looks every bit the artisan Vale red.

Great to see.

What I like is how clearly identifiable both Shiraz and Grenache elements are. Plush, even quite voluptuous plum Shiraz fruit meets high-toned Grenache. It’s quite chunky, and a little warm, but has presence – it feels layered, with some big-ticket flash and savoury oak.

Mouthfilling red that feels more expensive than what it is.

Best drinking: now to ten plus years. 18.5/20, 94/100. 14%, $46. Angove website. Would I buy it? Worth a few glasses at least.
