As the name suggests this is McLaren Vale Mataro/Mourvedre/choose your m name with 100% whole bunches. Matt East tinkering with Mataro here, and carries his trademark light touch. You don’t see the whole bunch influence until the very very end of the finish though, which is good (or bad, if you want the stem influence). Light to medium-bodied and bony, it’s an elegant and unusual wine for the Vale. Dark fruit core is familiar, but the leafy nuances not so much. Pleasant luncheon drink but the flavours feel a bit fleeting.
Best drinking: now to eight years I guess. 17/20, 90/100. 13.6%, $30.60. Rouleur website. Would I buy it? A glass or so.
