What a contrast to the Block F. This Clyde Park Single Block B2 Bannockburn Pinot Noir 2019 has more flesh, more oak, more everything. Different, nice, enjoyable. Made in a similar mode, with 25% whole bunches, and 10 months in 60% new oak.
It’s a succulent, and finely spicy, rather classic rendition of Geelong Pinot. The noticeable oak is s surprise but it also helps keep this more open and flashy. Light ruby colour, the perfume is there in droves – all pretty red fruit. What a different, brighter wine to the bony Block C! Still such a serious wine, the palate long, the whole package substantial. Another impressive Pinot, no doubt.
Best drinking: now to five years. 18.5/20, 94/100. 13%, $75. Clyde Park website. Would I buy it? Well worth a few glasses.
