It’s been a long time since my last video, but last week I stepped out from behind the camera to talk about wine tasting for The Wine Collective.
It was fun to tell a few stories and crack out my favourite tips too. Most of the info is pitched at a more entry level audience than you, but at the very least it’s worth a watch to see if you agree with me about flutes, and the half bottle trick.
I picked out a tasty trio of wines to talk about on cameras too – a brilliant Agrapart Blanc de Blancs, the backward Tyrrell’s Vat 1 2015 plus the rather juicy and easy Yarra Yering No. 3 2018.
That Agrapart is a stunner too. Even after two days opened in the fridge, the poise and delicacy was still unmistakeable. By contrast, the YY fell over within 24hrs, even though the opened bottle went straight into the fridge. It’s a very likeable wine, but needs another gear of structure/tannins to justify the price.
Regardless, please have a watch of this livestream playback and let me know your thoughts.

I loved this video. It would be great to see more video reviews of wines on this site.
Thanks Simon. Glad that it resonates beyond just me spouting anecdotes. I end up writing a lot of scripts, but don’t do many videos any more – I really should do more.
It still doesn’t work Andrew
Odd. This is the link again Kim – seems to work for me https://thewinecollective.wistia.com/medias/vv0ov8jbhj
Only watched the first half as I didn’t have time but it was very good! Well done Andrew
