Castle Rock Estate Pinot Noir 2019

Review: Castle Rock Estate Pinot Noir 2019

While Castle Rock’s reputation is built on Riesling (and Shiraz), the Pinot be a surprise packet (though not every year). This Castle Rock Estate Pinot Noir 2019 is a goodun.

Lovely bright boysenberry ruby coloured red this. Welcome varietal raspberry too. Cinnamon, rare steak, more raspberry, some eucalypt. Has a lovely red fruit palate – that’s the big appeal. Maybe a little light to finish but both varietal and regionally expressive. Best Castle Rock Pinot in years.

Castle Rock Estate Pinot Noir 2019. Best drinking: now to at least five years. 17.7/20, 92/100. 13.8%, $34. Castle Rock website. Would I buy it? Worth a glass.
