Please, wineries of Australia, send me more glorious aged Riesling like this Howard Park Museum Release Riesling 2014. It even has the old school label too! Reminds of the superb 1995 vintage of this wine…
A mature Riesling from Mount Barker in WA, and in fine form. Originally released in 2015, now back out in the wild five years later. It’s a powerful wine too, with a big impact of bombastic lime and a little toast. It’s a mid palate wine, rather than about aromatics, the acidity running second behind the fruit (but still prominent).
All makes for a convincing drink that you can recognise as carrying some age – the toast edges give that away – but with the fruit weight and freshness to be cleansing and delicious.
Chunky and satisfying white wine.
Howard Park Museum Release Riesling 2014. Best drinking: good now, no chance of this falling over within the next decade. 18.5/20, 94/100. 12%, $41. Howard Park website. Would I buy it? Worth a bottle.
