There is so much promise in the Hilltops that I’m always surprised we don’t see more focus on the region. Plenty of mature alternative plantings in the ground too, as evidenced by this Hungerford Hill Tempranillo Graciano 2021.
Great colour here – a vivid purple red. Authentic grip and savouriness underpins the purple fruit here too, giving this drive. Purple fruit, leather, tannins for grip and fruit power in a mid weight, polished sort of glossy modern wine. It’s a bit tart, but that’s about it. Like.
Best drinking: enjoyable now, no hurry to drink. 17.7/20, 92/100. 14%, $45. Hungerford Hill website. Would I buy it? A few glasses.
