Yalumba Samuel's Collection Shiraz Cabernet 2019

Review: Yalumba Samuel’s Collection Shiraz Cabernet 2019

Yalumba are the kings of Shiraz Cabernet, so little wonder that this Yalumba Shiraz Cabernet 2019 is a substantial wine. The sort of chewy, real red that makes a bunch of old blokes at a summer BBQ froth over. There’s a slight cooked fruit element to the nose, which is less seductive, but the palate concentration is seriously impressive in a dark, reasonably savoury, cocoa oak-touched mode. More drying than juicy and more power than elegance. This is a lot of Barossan red for $28. Best drinking: now or for up to a decade. It has the length for it. 17.5/20, 91/100. 14.5%, $28. Yalumba website. Would I buy it? Worth a glass or so.
