Full, ripe and bold Grenache that still retains red fruit vibrancy. That’s the gist of this Chapel Hill The MV Bush Vine Grenache 2021, which is in a pretty good place.
Bright ruby-purple coloured, there is some fragrance here over the lolly red fruit. A lift of old vine Grenache fruit.
How good is McLaren Vale Grenache?
Sorry to get all Scomo, but it’s hard not to appreciate the charms of Vale Grenache. Anyway, there is a seam of vanilla bean oak on the nose, too, before a palate that gets a bit thick and tarry through the middle and warmish to finish, but ultimately just gives this a bit of grunt.
Thumbs up.
Best drinking: now and for probably a decade. 17.7/20, 92/100. 14.5%, $30. Chapel Hill website. Would I buy it? A few glasses.
