Sparrow & Vine Alpine Valleys Arneis 2022

More interest from Brendan Hilferty’s Sparrow & Vine. Now a 2022 Alpine Valleys Arneis 2022

I really liked the Sparrow & Vine Grenache, and great to see this Sparrow & Vine Alpine Valleys Arneis 2022 has some appeal. Makes my life a shedload more enjoyable when the wines on the bench look smart. Anyway, this is wild fermented in barrel and has the texture to show for it. A bit more width in this – much more Piedmont than some of the more straight-laced local wines. Pear, a whisper of oxidative wildness, nice phenolic tang. This is good Arneis! Maybe a little tinny on the chalky finish – I want just a bit more flavour. Still good.

Best drinking: good now. 17.5/20, 91/100. 12.8%, $31. Sparrow & Vine website. Would I buy it? Worth a glass or so.

  1. Good to see. Some great expressions out of Alpine Valleys. Love the whites by Vinea Marson from there, highly recommend 😁
