Right, let’s get back into the sample pile, hey?
I have so much respect for what the Pooley family have done with their eponymous brand, taking it from a hobby plot to top flight Tassie label within two decades. This ripe, generously proportioned Pooley Pinot Noir 2021. It’s almost Tassie Shiraz-like in its volume of sappy, blue plum fruit palate, without falling into the trap of mainland Pinot producers where this sort of palate boldness produces dried-out wines. It has tannins too, although you wouldn’t call it tannic. Just mouthfilling and so much pleasure.
Best drinking: good now, and over the next five years. 18.5/20, 94/100. 13.5%, $58. Pooley website. Would I buy it? Absolutely.

Great product and fabulous onsite tasting venue. Staff behind counter are well informed and attentive.
A fantastic example of some of what good Tassie Pinot can be.
Great to see isn’t it. More Pooleys please wine world.
I do love the Pooley Wines but would recommend you seek out the single vineyard versions of the Pinot.
Also, I clicked on this post just as I had opened a bottle of said 2021 Pinot Noir.
