This May on Australian Wine and Drinks Review, you’re going to see a shedload of Chardonnay.
In recent weeks what started as a conversation about World Chardonnay Day on May 25th, has snowballed into Chardonnay May 2023 (or #ChardoMay aka #ChardoMay23).
Now long-time readers of this site will know that I hate the marketing-led falseness of the whole grape/wine days, but this feels a bit different. International Baga Day and World Marselan Day nay (although both grapes desperately need love), more Chardonnay yes.
In particular, I’d like to thank the Adelaide Hills Wine Region team (cheers Ruth), plus a pack of local and Kiwi producers for getting on board and sending samples to make this happen.
If you’re a Chardonnay producer, there is still time, and I’d love to see your recent releases (details here).
For everyone who is a fan of this noble grape, you’re going to like the uptick in Chardonnay reviews. If you hate the grape, we’ll see you in June.
I am excited!
