Anderson Hill O Series Chardonnay 2022

Anderson Hill O Series Chardonnay 2022

Anderson Hill is a new label for me and another from the #ChardoMay assortment that we’re just cracking into now. The Anderson Hill O Series Chardonnay 2022 needs more time (so probably glad I waited, right?), but the bones are good. This comes from the Anderson Hill ‘Home Vineyard’ at Lenswood and was wild fermented in barrel.

There’s this banana cream, just-bottled character here that makes it look even more backward, plus a dollop of milk bottle reduction. You can see that ripe fruit, but it has such brisk acidity, too, to the point where you wouldn’t pick it as 13.3% alcohol.

Cool, coiled, primal Chardonnay from one of SA’s highest vineyards, built for the future.

Best drinking: next year for a start. Then likely to 2028+. 17.7/20, 92/100+. 13.3%, $45. Anderson Hill website. Would I buy it? Worth sharing a bottle in 2024.
