Jansz Vintage Cuvee 2018

Review: Jansz Vintage Cuvee 2018 – Seriously smart

Jansz has quietly been on an upward quality trajectory of late and this Jansz Vintage Cuvee 2018 is a high-watermark. What surprises me is how full it is – cream and custard leesiness announces it, in an expressive, ‘check out my curves’ mode. The palate isn’t anywhere near as overt; indeed, it even feels a bit tinny through the mid-palate, but the leesy weight picks up again to fill in any holes.

It’s not completely congruent like a great Champagne (a cliched comparison, but unavoidable), and the whole package feels powerful in its mode. A proper Australian sparkling.

    THE VERDICT

  • Best drinking: Now. No hurry, but why wait?
  • Score (out of 20): 18
  • Score (out of 100): 93
  • Alcohol %: 12.5
  • RRP (in $AUD): 49
  • Winery website: https://www.jansz.com.au/
  • Would I buy it?: Worth a bottle
