If Dom Torzi’s Riesling is one of the biggest steals in Australian wine, then this Shiraz is worth mentioning in the same breath. The Torzi Matthews Schist Rock Shiraz 2022 is in such great form too.
Sourced from the family vineyard at Mt McKenzie. Eden Valley Shiraz from the outset. Plums, mushroom, leaf litter, and has a lovely dark berry sweet fruit intensity to it – midweight, savoury, yet plush and plump. It’s a bit light on tannins, which rounds it off, though that’s part of the appeal. An easily enjoyable, well-made Eden Valley Shiraz with presence for under $30.
