Yalumba Eden Valley Syrah 2021

Review: Yalumba Eden Valley Syrah 2021

Who said Yalumba, after 174 years, isn’t progressive? This classy Yalumba Eden Valley Syrah 2021 sees a pitch towards a mid-weight mode, and it works.

It’s still Eden Valley fruit, so there is still a solid core of purple plum chunkiness to the palate, but it’s very much a moderate thing. The oak is classy, giving a fine dusting of milk chocolate, some of that boysenberry jube character you sometimes see in Eden Valley Shiraz (and it threatens to look a bit confected at some stages – some whole berries in there?) and a little bitterness. It works. Savoury, ripe and still plenty plush, yet contained, it’s a really enjoyable modern Eden Valley Shiraz.
