Lots of interest in the Kellybrook range of Yarra Valley wines, especially across Pinot Noir & Chardonnay. Matt from Kellybrook sent me some of their cider too, though I’m slack and it’s still sitting in the GIANT sample pile (which is actually a sample cupboard, that has spilled out to become a sample two-bedroom unit). This BdB is 100% Yarra Chardonnay from the Wonga Park property, that is barrel fermented and spends 33 months on lees before bottling with 6g/L dosage. Slightly cheesy, leesy nose over a grapefruit palate, with a style that is more about leesy richness than fruit. That’s not a bad thing – I quite like this nutty, slightly cheesy and nicely complex mode. Lovely layers of flavour – it’s a clever fizz.
