Lerida Estate Cullerin Cabernet Franc 2022

Review: Lerida Estate Cullerin Cabernet Franc 2022

Welcome to the sharp end of Canberran wines. Lerida Estate’s Lake George Vineyard aspect is at the coolest, highest end of the Canberra region, and the wines are consistently lithe and fragrant. The Lerida Estate Shiraz was great, and this Cabernet Franc is super drinkable too. It’s lean and spicy, in a Loire-inspired style (rather than right-bank Bordeaux), with raspberry and red cherry brightness coupled to a little twiggy hint. Lovely light red fruit palate, too – lithe, just a little brackish bitterness, but it’s mainly red cherry fruit. That Campari-esque bitterness is going to divide, but this is refreshing, bright and not ungenerous.
