$14 doesn’t buy much Yarra Valley Pinot Noir. The Andrew of 2014 could have said the same thing and been right, let alone in the inflation boom time of 2024. But here we are, with this Aldi-exclusive Truly Wildly Pinot Noir 2022 delivering shitloads of Pinosity for $14. Sure, it’s light, light-bodied, and just a little bitter, but the mushroom, light red fruit, and sappy tang are 100% Yarra Pinot. That bitterness is a bit raw, and it highlights that the palate is a bit underpowered. But gee, the price vs quality here is something very worthy.
(Oh and yes, the image is the Shiraz, which I haven’t tried. But the Pinot label looks very similar, except obvs from the Yarra Valley).
