Marlborough Chardonnay somehow bucked the trend to ditch the toasty style and remains a destination for thick Chardonnay that is now back in fashion (if it ever really went away). Everything old is new again. This Forrest Chardonnay is definitely bigger – ripe, toasty, caramel-edged and broad with honey nut richness and oaky weight. It’s not flabby, but lavishness is the game. Old-school charm is the real winner, even if it looks a bit warm and forward in some lights.
