Freeman Altura Vineyard Sangiovese 2022

Review: Freeman Altura Vineyard Sangiovese 2022

This is proper Sangiovese from the Freeman family’s vineyards in the Hilltops. A fascinating spread of varieties on the plots, too, and plenty of fruit sold off to other winemakers, which just helps the industry in the long run. We need more great growers (said with my viticulturist proudly on). Warm forest berries and caramel chews are aplenty in this Freeman Altura Vineyard Sangiovese 2022, with a mid-weight ease to it. Maybe a little oak sweetened and light-ish for 14%, but the autentico tannins and forest berry spread is bang on. I like it.
