I really think Orange Pinot Gris could (and should) take over the mantle of Sauvignon Blanc as the region’s most popular white variety. Actually, Orange’s Chardonnays are better again (but don’t tell anyone).
What I like is the rather pretty nose on this, that edge of nashi pear and feijoa ripe fruit more than welcome. The palate doesn’t quite resolve with that nose, all white peach fruit, plenty of acid and some warm alcohol sweetness. I like the softness of the mid palate texture but quite surprised by that sharp acid.
Almost very good, in a more supportive season this should be pretty smart.

Would I buy it? Not quite
