It always feels rude to drink a Hunter Semillon at 2-4 years of age. Kind of like pulling a cake out of the oven before its finished rising simply because you’re hungry. Anyways, this is nothing if not promising, as ever.
Pale green-straw in colur, this smells closed and pre pubescent – all green apple and soda water, with a primary, green melon edge. Palate is dominated by powerful acidity too, though softer than the equivalent Vat 1 of this same age, with a small dollop of butter if you reach far in. Perhaps a riper wine in the single vineyard Tyrrell’s context, yet still utterly classic and age-worthy.
Drink this as a ten year old and you’re well on the money.
