Marlborough Pinot has made giant leaps in seriousness over the past 5 or so vintages, the best wines now rating amongst NZ’s best wines, not just simple ‘fruity’ Pinots.

This isn’t there though. Light flavours, hung meat development and lots of alcohol esters, the palate driven by alcohol and already starting to dry out. It’s not terrible, but you get the feeling that this wines best years are behind it.

Drink: 2012-2015
Score: 15/20, 85/100
Would I buy it? No.
